Encinal Mountain

The Mountain House is an original Buff & Hensman, AIA designed residence and one of the few homes located in Encinal Canyon to have survived the Woolsey Fire. These architects have achieved well-earned recognition as helping to define California modernism in the field of architecture, and their participation in the Case Study Program is particularly noteworthy. In the instant case, the Developer acquired the property from the estate of the original owner and followed suit with a nearly 2-year hard fought effort to meticulously restore the home located in the Coastal Zone on 5 acres in Encinal Canyon, Malibu. A reforestation effort remains underway with several hundred native trees and shrubs having been planted to restore the natural habitat in the aftermath of the Woolsey Fire.
